The Enriching and Improving Experience: Palliative and End of Life Care framework, builds on the considerable capacity and expertise that already exists in the health and social care workforce.
The framework describes the key domains that are integral to palliative and end of life care in all health and social care settings and outlines the associated knowledge and skills required by all workers who might come into contact with people who have palliative and end of life care needs, their families and carers. NHS Education for Scotland (NES) and the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) developed the framework.
The framework builds on and supports the learning and development needs of all health and social service workers. Integration means that more than ever, teams from different workplaces are coming together to provide care and support, focused on people’s needs.
The framework closely links to other work like self-directed support, carers, Promoting Excellence, the new Health and Social Care Standards My support My life and recognising and building on these links at local, regional and national level is key to successful implementation.
